It's just a stage

In the past 3 days, Amanda has managed to 1) write in ballpoint pen on the leather couch (an "A" and an "x"), 2) cut her own bangs, and 3) draw a mustache on her face in purple marker.

Repeat after me: "It's only a stage. Only a stage..."

Do you remember the purple watercolors that appeared on the dining room wall, right next to the new floor-length formal satin draperies that I had carefully made by hand in a drapery-making class? The paint, of course, got on the draperies, and when your dad took them into the dry cleaners they scolded him for letting something like that happen to such beautiful work. It will end. Really.

Hi Mom---

I think I blocked that one out, although you did tell me that making curtains as your toddler is riding through the room on a tricycle is difficult...

Amanda temporarily doesn't get to use marker, pen or scissors. We'll see how that goes.
